At Embedded World 2025 in Nuremberg, Thundercomm, Inc. introduced the new TurboX C6690 SOM, a state-of-the-art AI-enabled module specifically optimized for industrial handheld devices, tablets, edge computing as well as smart retail applications.
Based on the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ QCS6690 4nm chipset platform, the TurboX C6690 SOM offers outstanding performance, flexible customization options, comprehensive AI performance, high energy efficiency, and a compact design that accelerates the development and market launch of intelligent end devices.
The combination of the Qualcomm® Dragonwing™ QCS6690 chipset, Kryo™ CPU and Adreno™ GPU delivers 6 TOPS of AI computing power, enabling powerful on-device AI applications. With pin-to-pin compatibility with other Thundercomm SOMs, the TurboX C6690 offers a future-proof solution for a wide range of applications and also reduces development costs.
Thanks to its ultra-compact design, the TurboX C6690 SOM is more than 60% smaller than comparable products. Its compact design facilitates production, increases yield rates and meets the stringent size requirements of space-critical applications. In addition, the SOM offers flexible customization options through modular feature packs as well as numerous PCIe expansion options for peripherals such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, allowing tailored configurations to be created for a variety of application scenarios and maximizing ROI.
With advanced video processing capabilities, the TurboX C6690 SOM supports 4K@60fps encoding, 4K@120fps decoding and four MIPI CSI interfaces for simultaneous processing of multiple camera data. This makes it the ideal solution for dashcams, smart displays, 4K video streaming and numerous other use cases.
