Lantronix introduces the FOX4 Advanced Telematics Gateway, a new powerful variant of the FOX series for fleet management and telematics applications. The gateway is pre-configured with Lantronix Percepxion software and enables comprehensive device life cycle management, seamless application integration and in-depth analytics. With its advanced data collection, processing, and transmission technologies, the FOX4 sets new standards in telematics system efficiency.
The FOX4 Advanced Telematics Gateway offers a rich set of interfaces and technologies, including 4G LTE connectivity with 2G fallback for maximum network coverage, multi-channel GNSS with GPS, Galileo and GLONASS for precise positioning, and A-GPS support in online, offline and autonomous modes. The positioning accuracy is 2.5 m for GPS and 4.0 m for GLONASS. It also has internal and external GSM/GNSS antennas with automatic switching as well as Wi-Fi and BLE 5.2 for extended communication options.
With support for various protocols such as NMEA and PFAL (binary), high sensitivity with GPS -161 dBm and GLONASS -158 dBm as well as MQTT, Azure and REST API support for easy integration into cloud systems, FOX4 can be easily integrated into existing systems. Edge processing and local data storage reduce transmission costs, while advanced security mechanisms such as AES and SSL/TLS encryption protect critical data.
The cloud-based Percepxion platform provides a powerful solution for centralized device management, delivering real-time notifications of critical events, certificate management and software updates, as well as comprehensive telemetry data for analysis and event management. It also enables SIM and VPN management for global connectivity.
Compared to its predecessor FOX3, FOX4 offers significantly improved computing power, enhanced GNSS functionalities and optimized data processing. While FOX3 still relied on 3G technology, FOX4 supports modern 4G LTE with 2G fallback for a more stable and faster connection. In addition, the positioning accuracy has been further optimized and the sensitivity of the GNSS receivers has been improved to enable more precise positioning even under difficult conditions. The integration of Wi-Fi and BLE 5.2 ensures more flexible connectivity and opens up new application possibilities in the field of IoT and smart tracking.
