Nuvoton presents the new M2L31 MCU series

Our partner Nuvoton Technology launched its new NuMicro M2L31 microcontroller series, featuring the innovative Arm Cortex-M23 core. Designed for sustainable high-performance embedded computing, the M2L31 series is noted for its exceptional energy efficiency.

The M2L31 microcontroller offers configurations with 64 to 512 Kbytes of ReRAM and 40 to 168 Kbytes of SRAM, making it suitable for applications requiring minimal power consumption and robust performance, such as battery management and industrial automation. It includes advanced features like USB Type-C PD 3.0 support and two CAN FD ports, ensuring robust data security and connectivity.

By integrating ReRAM (Resistive Random Access Memory), the NuMicro M2L31 series sets a new standard for energy-efficient automation. Based on a process technology developed in collaboration with TSMC, the non-volatile ReRAM memory accelerates write operations by avoiding the time-consuming "erase before write" process of conventional flash memory and also outperforms conventional flash memory in terms of performance, power consumption, and durability.

ReRAM has so far mainly been used in the DRAM or NAND flash memory market. With the introduction of the M2L31 microcontroller, developers in the industrial and consumer sectors can now also benefit from the many advantages of ReRAM.

The microcontroller's support for various peripherals and development tools, including UART, I²C, SPI/I²S, capacitive touch channels, and multiple IDEs, allows for high versatility and integrability for developers. With the NuMaker evaluation board and Nu-Link debugger, Nuvoton provides comprehensive support and facilitates a seamless development experience.
